League Of Legends Players Are Getting To Name Tasmanian Devils

(Photo: League of Legends)

The lucky League of Legends players in the Oceania region are getting a unique chance to name a couple of Tasmanian devils after their efforts in a community event, and the names being suggested aren't too shabby.

Part of the League of Legends Ocean Week 2017, the event encouraged players to sign into their Oceania account and win games to contribute in a fight against several different challenges that posed a threat to the region's wildlife. Kangaroos, Kookaburras, and Kiwis were just a few of the animals that were featured during Ocean Week, and completing the group requirements associated with each challenge granted rewards such as loot for crafting and self mystery gifting.

The community rewards for defeating the event's Menace that plagued the region's wildlife is where the Tasmanian devils come into play. Partnering with Wing's Wildlife Park in Tasmania, an enclosure for the devils is being built within the park, and players are receiving the honor of naming the animals.

"Tasmanian devils face a large slew of problems: the spread of Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD), the dangers of the road, low genetic diversity and habitat loss all pose a threat, and the WWP enclosure will help protect Tasmanian devils, as well as provide a safe space for them to breed — and it’s all thanks to your hard work!" the naming announcement reads.

While the names don't have to be related to League, a ton of them are, and players from the region are being asked to drop their suggestions in the post's comments along with an explanation as to why it should be chosen. The best names from the list will be hand-picked and put in a poll that will go live soon for those players to vote on.

Since they don't know if the animals will be male or female, they're requesting four names, two male names and two female names. Surprisingly, the naming process looks to be going a lot better than most community-naming events go. Players were asked not to give low-effort names such as "BoatyMcBoatface" turned "TassieMcDevilface," and with those and the obligatory suggestions from players to name the devils Teemo out of the way, there are actually some pretty decent names. Xayah and Rakan were a given, and naming them after Yordles such as Gnar also seemed like a popular option.

Along with the prizes and the great names, battle artwork was also created to fit each challenge, images that can be seen in the included gallery. In order, the challenges were: Kiwi of Karnage; Dropbear of Doom; The Furious Fur Seal; The Kackling Kookaburra; The Howling Hawksbill; The Rabid Roo; and The Tasmanian Terrors.

The name suggestion period will close on June 29, and players will be able to vote on their favorite names from July 1-3.

10 Top Sexiest League of Legends Skins

One of the largest games in the world, League of Legends is no stranger to well-done character creation and character appearance. As a Free To Play game, though, Riot Games, the game's creator, needed a way to recoup their costs and make it a truly profitable game. Enter the idea of skins. Just like many other Free to Play games, players can purchase new champion outfits (also known as skins) to customize their champion in a new way. As over 90% of League of Legends players are male, it may come as no surprise that many of the female champion skins are pretty easy on the eyes. Short skirts, bare stomachs, and long legs are the par for many of the available female champion skins. Not all sexy skins are created equal, though. Here at some of the 10 Top Sexiest League of Legends skins. Some are still available for purchase while others will just have to be something you lust over. Click Here to Continue
