Image via Riot Games One of League of Legends’ rarest skins is returning to game on Aug. 31—with a twist. The skin, PAX Sivir, was released in 2011 as part of PAX Prime, a series of gaming festivals held in multiple states in the US. Two skins were given out to attendees of the event in previous years—PAX Jax and PAX Twisted Fate came out in 2009 and 2010 respectively. The skin has been changed slightly and rebranded as Neo PAX Sivir and will be available to those who craft 10 gemstones from Aug. 31 to Jan. 8, giving players plenty of time to find those pesky gemstones in loot boxes. Gemstones are obtainable through loot boxes, which you can buy in the League store. After finding 10 gemstones, players can craft them together in the shard portion of the game to choose a host of skins, including Neo PAX Sivir. A new champion hailing from the Freljord has been teased on the League of Legends Universe page. By clicking on the horn on this page, viewers will be taken to a separate page where a Freljordian song will start playing. The poem mentions "Orrn the Mountainsmith," who is believed to be the next champion that will be a part of the 7.17 PBE update. The only information we know so far is that the champion will be a part of the Vanguard class, as mentioned in the Champion Roadmap post that Riot made back in July. The horn that players can click on the Freljord page also was a part of that post. Details have emerged on refunds being issued to Summoners of League of Legends that spent IP on runes. For those of you that have enjoyed playing League of Legends over the years, you’ve undoubtedly spent a lot of IP points on all the different runes depending on the champions and roles you play. In case you didn’t know, big changes are coming this fall to runes which should make a great impact in the Summoner’s Rift. Of course, when this massive update hits, things will be different as all the previous runes that are in the game will be for the most part removed. The good news is, developers of League of Legends plan to have some kind of system in place to refund IP that was used during a certain time period to ensure that it wasn’t completely wasted. After years of groaning from players, League of Legends will finally get a two-step verification feature. In an “Ask Riot” post published Thursday, the product manager of Riot Games‘ accounts team said two-step verification is coming soon. “We are currently implementing a series of account protection feature updates to the player accounts system, which will be rolling out over the next year,” it reads. “One of these planned features is a two-step verification for logins. So while we don’t have a hard date to offer, we did want to confirm that this is in the works.” Riot has come under scrutiny by users because of lax account security, with the absence of a two step verification process. With Kayn already out on the Rift and Urgot, Evelynn, Aatrox, and now even Swain on the horizon for massive updates, League of Legends seems to be dishing out new champion content faster than players can keep track of. On top of all of that, the next new champion has also been teased in the Champion Roadmap discussion, a Vanguard from Freljord that’s expected to be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to initiating fights with the enemy team. Jordan Zakrajsek is on his way to Lourdes University in Ohio under a varsity athletic scholarship, USA Today College reported. His sport of choice? Multiplayer online battle game League of Legends“. At Lourdes, Zakrajsek will team up with 27 other players in the school’s eSports team which will compete with other college teams nationwide. If you have been out of the loop in the gaming world since the days of Command and Conquer, then you may not be aware of the multiplayer online battle arena genre, or MOBA for short. Let me fill you in on the phenomenon that has forever changed the competitive gaming landscape. The MOBA genre originally stemmed from the StarCraft custom map Aeon of Strife where players picked a character from a roster and fought computer-controlled forces in three lanes, with the destruction of the enemy team’s primary structure as the primary goal. Players earned minerals from defeating enemies which then are used to upgrade the character and make it more powerful. However the map was not a hit, and did not manage to attract a lot of players. We are constantly amazed at how fans across the world can manage to translate Riot Games' outlandish League of Legends champion designs into real-life costumes. We assume it costs a lot of mana, as well as money, time, and meaningful relationships.
