MANILA, Philippines – The PBA fined TNT reinforcement Joshua Smith due to remarks he made after KaTropa lost to San Miguel in Game Five of the Commissioner's Cup Finals on Friday.
The league, through a Twitter posting on Saturday afternoon, said that they are slapping Smith a P30,000 penalty for "statements detrimental to the league."
On his way out of the Big Dome Friday night, Smith was interviewed by a handful of reporters. He tersely said “PBA officials are terrible," when asked for his thoughts on the game.
The 6-foot-9 American even went to enumarte the referees of the game. They were Noy Guevarra, Mao Orioste and Rey Yante.
TNT built a 15-point lead going into the halftime break, only to be decimated by San Miguel--led by their other Most Valuable Player in Arwind Santos--in the second half.
KaTropa will try to force a game for all the marbles this Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
